Aside from the incredible view of the ocean, breathing the ocean air, enjoying the spectacular moment of the sun rises or as it sets, or sunlight on your faces, There are 8 surprising health benefits to enjoy a barefoot stroll along a sandy beach. 


  1. Muscles and tendons work harder when walking in the sand. It’s a fantastic exercise to strengthen the muscles of the legs. Walking and running is free. 
  2. As a slow walker, you will put more effort and more energy while your feet sink in the sand than you would on paved ground.
  3. It is so relaxing, peaceful, energizing, and refreshing: You will walk a further distance than normal.
  4. The sand will be an easy pavement for your feet, provide a massaging effect for the soles of your feet and activates venous and lymphatic circulation.
  5. While you stroll, you will soak up natural Vitamin D from the sun. It is needed for moods and good bone structure.
  6. Studies found that the sound of waves and walking barefoot on the water in order to feel all those grains under your feet helps reduce stress and improve sleep and appetite.
  7. It is an exercise that burns more calories than you would when running at the same pace on a hard surface.
  8. Lastly, walking improve blood circulation helps prevent disease, and increases energy.


      CAUTION: Sun overexposure can be dangerous.

  • Put on your sun screen to exposed areas of your body, wear a hat, take sunglasses and bottle of water and don't forget to jump in the water to cool off. Watch for sharp objects in the sand.
  • Avoid walking in the middle of the day between 11am–1pm when the sun is most intense.
  • Bare feet are fine for a short stroll down the beach; proper shoes are indispensable for walking a long distance.
  • If you've injured your foot or ankle in the past ask your doctor advice. There is a higher risk of injury to the ankle ligaments.


     Go for a walk; don’t forget that it's relaxing, and contemplate the beauty of the changing colors of 

water and sky. Nature is all around us, appreciate it. It's an opportunity to reconnect yourself back to nature.
